Premier’s Be Active Challenge

be-active-headerOur school will be participating in the Premier’s be active challenge this term. This information came too late to put in my newsletter, but I have signed the class up and we have begun to fill in our logs. If you want to find out more visit http://www.pbac.sa.edu.au/Home.aspx

The requirement is that students record their fitness/ aerobic activities completed over each day. They need to complete four weeks of an hour a day. Now given we have three sessions of fitness – twelve minute run, corporate clump and beat up, one lesson of PE and most kids are very active during lunch and recess which collectively add up to an hour, this shouldn’t be too difficult. Of course the activities must be the huffing and puffing type. By all means include any after school sports.

We have begun by filling our logs in for our swimming and we’ll back date last weeks activities given the late start. Each different type of activity needs its own colour code. There are incentives for the school if students manage a whole ten weeks. Perhaps some of our students may want to take that on too.

      Hi Gianni,
glad to see you reading the blog. I am enjoying working with you too. I hope you are sharing with your family how hard you’ve been working. Did you tell them how impressed Mr Grant was with your History work yesterday. That’s pretty big stuff mate. Hope your headache soon goes away.Do you think you’ll finish the 10 week challenge?

I don’t know exactly but I believe the Premier’s department wants to do something to help stop the number of children suffering from health problems because they don’t get enough exercise or eat the wrong types of foods. I reckon it’s a good thing don’t you.
      Cheers Ellen

I know, you are quite active Tia. I reckon the ten week challenge shouldn’t be too hard, especially if you play games that make you huff and puff at recess and lunch. You should encourage your team mates to join you.

I am Kate. After school on Tuesday’s and Saturday mornings I do boot camp in the school gym and on Friday after school we do a joint mobility/Pilates/yoga session. When I can Peter and I go bushwalking. I do try to keep fit but being 100 is hard!
