Kids Corner

Class of 2017

Here is your forum.

Ok, this is the page we decided we would add in a previous class meeting. On this page you can communicate politely and positively with your class mates. It would be a wonderful place to let us know any interesting hobbies you do and achievements that you have earned. Ask you friends some interesting questions? Help them understand what’s going on. Pay someone a compliment and give them some great feedback. I found some great tips by some third grade children in California, hear what they have to say.

I’m glad you found the video and that will inspire you to get a conversation going. I have seen that a lot of class blogs use Ms Yolliss’ video. Did you know that her Blog has our Blog as a Blog to visit too? Well I can’t wait for it.

    Dear Ellen,
I like the way you organised the pictures on the blog. It’s still very sad that Mr Potter left but that’s life. Any way it’s good to be back and learning again. I love the harmony day posters, they really make me smile.
    All happiness Sarah.

    Dear Ellen,

I have loved that you have got round tables because it is a different experience than all of the other classes that I have been in because they have all got long tables instead of round. I have loved being in your class so far. Thank You for being my teacher.

      Dear Cleo,
Thanks for the kind feedback. I like the round tables too, it means everyone is included and your are a real group square table don’t work that well. Sometimes we have to have five people at a table and that just won’t work with the traditional ones.Have you given any thought to the library changes and reading stuff? We had better get cracking or we may miss out.

HI Ellen on Tuesday I wanted to pull my tooth out because it was bothering me to eat and talk.
On place value I had good plans to win. My best one was to put the nine in the thousand spot, the three two one in the ones spot and the other numbers in the hundred spot.

      Howdy Jovan,
I’m glad your tooth isn’t bothering you anymore. Did you put it out for the tooth fairy? Or will you plant it? I think your maths strategy seems to make a lot of sense, that’s some clever maths thinking. How do you feel about challenging your facts to 20? I’m sure you’ll be just as fast as your facts to 10. Are you liking the treasur mapping? What did you call you island?

Yes I am enjoying tonight, I had a great boxing session and worked very hard with Miss Carmen. I was able to mark all the reading activities and read some very silly sentences indeed. I think you’ll like tomorrow we have more mapping to investigate and create a treasure map. What fun.

      Greetings Lucy,
For any things to be decided we will have to work that out in our class meetings which we haven’t started yet. Sushi days are organised by the canteen so we would have to wait for them to do that. I’ll have a chat to you about “food” days. You sound like a great ideas person why didn’t you run for Student Voice? I’m sure you have lots of ideas of what our class could do to strengthen our smarts. I’d love to hear about them.

I think that is a great idea to do research on a country. We do have to learn our near neighbours in geography this year . I wonder if you know which ones I might be referring to. Checkout the map and let me know. To start with you can learn all about Hamilton Island I hear you will be visiting that soon. Send us some comments. We hope you have a great time there lad.

      Good evening Sabitri,
Yes I did find your handwriting practice on my table. I was wondering what that was, then I read your note. Goodness you have been putting in a lot of effort. Now to get a pen trial you will have to show me that style in all your work. So focus on keeping all letters same size, slope them, put kicks on all the necessary letters and make sure all writing is on the line. The more you do all those things the neater your work will be. Try writing this sentence
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. It has all the letters of the alphabet for you to have a go at.
Of course we will do more art perhaps not the same but different things. Finding time to do everything can be tricky. See you at school tomorrow.

Hi Room 14. I really enjoy seeing all the learning you are doing. How did you get trapped in the jars??? I couldn’t see the one of Ellen, as it didn’t come up on my screen. Great to see all the challenging learning you are all doing. That shows that you have an excellent teacher, as that’s what great teachers do, they challenge their students to do even better. Well done, Room 14! Mr Grant

      Dear Mr Grant,
Thank you for checking out our work on our class blog. It was very exciting collecting the numbers in the carpark with our partners. It was sort of easy sorting out the three digit numbers and making the mathematical posters.

By the way, as you were reading you may have scrolled into last years class’ posts and thought we were trapped, but unfortunately it was not us, it was 2016’s.
Maybe we will do that activity later. We would love for you to regularly read our class blog. Hope to hear from you soon.
      Thank you

    Dear Ellen,
Today we have been working on the science project and we found a gecko in the backyard. Then my mum found a very big spider, which had some red marks on its teeth. I enjoyed looking for living things together with my family. I will show you the gecko tomorrow at school but not the spider as it is a little bit scary.

      Hello Santino,
Wow sounds like you had a fabulous adventure being scientists in your back yard. I would love to see what you have found. I’m glad you were brave, somethings can be a bit scary indeed. I’ve been making some maths activities that I think you will enjoy on Monday. Did you give your family the Lexia information? if you get in early you can go on.

      Greetings Natalie my fearless blogger,
When anyone reads this letter like I did they can respond. So if they write to you, then you will see your name and then you can answer back.I think we do need some practice lessons and it will become a lot clearer once other children are as active as you are. Patience little one.
So did you enjoy the day today?

thanks for dropping in a note for me. Yes I do like my new class although they do not know all the things you guys were used to doing, so we have to start all over again. It is always busy at this time of year, getting to know all the things that the new students can do. Hey I saw you all having to talk in front of the class what was that all about? I can see into your room as I come down the stairs. How is your new teacher? We re going to try the byod scheme too.
